I recently spent two nights at Villas by the Sea with my daughter and a few of her friends for a birthday getaway. We had a two bedroom villa which was tastefully decorated and absolutely spotless. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the pots, plates, and pans I needed to prepare meals (I brought my own groceries, of course). The beds were very comfortable and I slept great. I had the pleasure of spending my wedding night at the Villa’s by the Sea.
My original plan was to drive down (3.5 hrs) and get married on the beach with my family (just us and our kids), then drive home after it got dark. After the ceremony I decided it was just not right for my bride to spend her special day riding in the car all night, so I went to the Villa’s for a room. They were very busy due to the Shrimp and Grits Festival, but still worked me in at the last minute. I requested a regular room for the night, but to my surprise they put me in a two bedroom on the beachside. Very beautiful room, view, setting and private… We will always spend our anniversary there and summer vacations there. The staff was very gracious, the food at the restaurant was good and priced accordingly. – Fort Valley, GA

My son graduated from OCS school in Columbus, GA and we needed a close by place to stay and talk. This was a wonderful resting place. It sounds odd to say there is not much to do here but enjoy nature. I don’t think there is another place like Jekyll Island remaining along the east coast. The staff was very helpful. We had an issue with our A/C unit and I swear you would have thought we were the only people here. The attention was not only immediate but the three staff members who showed up were polite and professional. They fixed us up and then the front desk called us the next day to ask if we were ok! The golf is also awesome 3 courses.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Villas by the Sea at the end of August. It was one of the most relaxing vacations I have had in years. The staff at the Villas were some of the friendliest people I have meet in years. They were constantly addressing you whenever a contact occurred. We stayed in a 3 bedroom oceanside villa and enjoyed the most incredible sunrises I have ever seen. The full kitchen gave us the opportunity to eat in almost all of our meals during our stay. I loved the location and comfort that I experienced. It was so quiet, peaceful and lovely with all the amenities I needed within walking distance. It was wonderful to sit on my balcony and watch the shrimp boats while the sun rose over the Atlantic. I plan on going back! – Kennesaw, Georgia

We had a nice, relaxing long weekend at Villas by the Sea. This is a quiet, naturally wooded location….the villas blend into the setting…just as it should. Although we had a small child with us….this would be especially nice for couples, young and old alike.
Only downside we noted was the beach accesses are not “user friendly” but there are signs to warn you how slippery they can be. They also have a high step down. Good thing the pavilion and boardwalk is a great place to sit, sun or just relax with the gentle breezes ….no need to get out on the beach at all.

We rented a mini-condo for a week at Villas by the Sea . This was our first real trip (other than a one night stay last winter) to Jekyll. I did a lot of research on lodging, so I was aware of the tide tables (and lack of beach access during certain parts of the day). Also, I knew our unit would not be oceanfront, so I was not disappointed in having to walk a short distance during high tides to take full advantage of the beach. We had a great time, and Villas by the Sea met our expectations. For the money, this was a great place to stay. Now if you are willing to pay $200 or more per night, you would probably want to look at other places. We found other vacationers were a lot of families with young children, grandparents with their grand kids, older couples, etc. Lots seemed to be staying for a few nights not a whole week. Our Unit was located near the playground and our son loved it because there were almost always some nice children out to play. The Driftwood Bistro at VBTS is excellent. There prices and quality of the food were some of the best we found on the island. We liked the food there ($) and our other favorite was dining at Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club ($$$), so go figure! I would definitely give Villas by the Sea a chance.
