Great and relaxing experience

We had a nice, relaxing long weekend at Villas by the Sea. This is a quiet, naturally wooded location….the villas blend into the setting…just.as it should. Although we had a small child with us….this would be especially nice for couples, young and old alike.
Only downside we noted was the beach accesses are not “user friendly” but there are signs to warn you how slippery they can be. They also have a high step down. Good thing the pavilion and boardwalk is a great place to sit, sun or just relax with the gentle breezes ….no need to get out on the beach at all.

We rented a mini-condo for a week at Villas by the Sea . This was our first real trip (other than a one night stay last winter) to Jekyll. I did a lot of research on lodging, so I was aware of the tide tables (and lack of beach access during certain parts of the day). Also, I knew our unit would not be oceanfront, so I was not disappointed in having to walk a short distance during high tides to take full advantage of the beach. We had a great time, and Villas by the Sea met our expectations. For the money, this was a great place to stay. Now if you are willing to pay $200 or more per night, you would probably want to look at other places. We found other vacationers were a lot of families with young children, grandparents with their grandchildern, older couples, etc. Lots seemed to be staying for a few nights not a whole week. Our Unit was located near the playground and our son loved it because there were almost always some nice children out to play. The Driftwood Bistro at VBS is excellent. There prices and quality of the food were some of the best we found on the island. We liked the food there ($) and our other favorite was dining at Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club ($$$), so go figure! I would definitely give Villas by the Sea a chance.

Loved it!

Loved it! Would stay again!!!: I really appreciated the individuality of each villa because no two are the same. The information given regarding the accommodations on the website were spot on, I couldn’t find anything that was terrible. It was a safe, clean, welcoming place. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in my opinion. At first I was wary, by reading the reviews before… I’m definitely glad that my family and I stayed here. -Georgia, USA

Relaxation at its finest!

Relaxation at its finest!: We really liked the condo we stayed in. We loved the pool although some trees should be trimmed as it was 60 percent in the shade. Also the squirrel population tended to be a bit of a nuisance if you had food around. The hotel restaurant food and service was really good as its under new management and not as pricey as other restaurants on the island. The beach view was beautiful and great for moonlit nights but not ever dry enough to lay out during the day, even at low tide. But the public beach just up the road was great! If you have kids or aren’t looking for lots of evening entertainment this is the place for you!

Fantastic Reunion

Fantastic family reunion!!!: This was a fabulous resort to hold our family reunion. The villas are scattered throughout the beautiful maritime forests of the island.
Ryan, the group director was great in making sure the entire family was as close to one another as possible and not scattered out through the “very large” grounds. I cannot say enough about the personal care that were given to our family group of 54. The restaurant, “The Driftwood Bistro” was fabulous and we had our main family (group) meal there. Merideth and Dan pulled it all together and continued to check on us to make sure that all was going well through our stay or to see if we needed anything – or maybe just to say hello! I just cannot say enough about all the “special care” that we received from this resort. Some of us came in a few days early before the main group arrived and the Driftwood Bistro was such a nice place, the food and service was wonderful, that we decided to have our meals there instead of going elsewhere on the island, and no matter how many people in our group showed up, there was Merideth, pulling tables together so that all of us could have a meal together. The convenience of the restaurant on site is wonderful. The front counter staff could really learn alot from these three people, Ryan, Merideth and Dan as to how to greet and treat people as they encounter people at the front desk. – Seems that was the only problems anyone in our group had on a consistent basis. With that said, ~ THANKS Ryan, Merideth and Dan for ALL of your hard work in making the SUMMERLIN REUNION a great success!!! Before leaving, we all voted on having it again next year at the Villas by the Sea….. Don and Cookie

A great place to hang out

Jekyll Island is a great place to hang out, play golf, tennis, ride your bike and walk the beach. Villas by the Sea make it all so easy. We have a three bedroom condo with a view of the ocean and even on a rainy day it’s cozy. Couldn’t be happier. -Minneapolis

Awesome get away

The hotel is very nice, simple grounds but with great views of the ocean. I was not that impressed with the beach but this place has so much more to offer. The view of the Ocean is enough here. The servcie was awesome. My girlfreind and I got a 1br condo next ot the pool and a stones throw from the ocean and the main part of the hotel. The food was great. The accomodations – outstanding, every creature comfort was thought of to make our stay incrible. The bar has great ambiancea and excellent staff, actually all the staff was extremely accomodating. Great location to the historic district and lookedc to be the nicest accomodation other than the Jekyl Island Club on the Island. Had drinks with people who were staying there and I think we were happier. There is abosolutely nothing I could say that was not good to excellent. A great perk, was that I felt completely safe as two female traveleres. The hotel provided someone to walk us back to our rooms as there was a male dominated conventon (we had no problems, all good) and they wanted us to feel secure and safe. This would be a great place for girl trips, romantic getaways – but would not recommend this destination in general to those with teens, didn;t look like there was much for them to do. All in all, one of the best trips I have ever taken and look forward to going again in the future.
